On 18 July 2023, Viettel Solutions, a subsidiary of Viettel Group, signed a cooperation agreement with Meta and officially became Meta’s official A2P SMS service provider in Vietnam. The direct interconnection between both platforms improves SMS interaction quality and communication security for Vietnamese users of Meta’s social platforms.
Vietnam is a key global market for Facebook. As of May 2023, Facebook had 66.2 million local users, while Instagram’s penetration in Vietnam kept rising. As the operator with the largest market share in Vietnam, Viettel met Meta’s selection criteria and became its long-term A2P SMS partner.
Thanks to this direct connection cooperation, Vietnamese Viettel subscribers can receive A2P SMS such as verification codes from Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Messages carry official brand sender identifiers to enable fast and accurate message delivery. Both parties will also combine human and technical resources to upgrade security protection measures beyond traditional communications.
Executives from both sides affirmed the prospect of cooperation at the signing ceremony. Meta noted Vietnam’s high smartphone penetration and its development potential within Southeast Asia’s digital economy. Viettel Solutions expects to take this cooperation as a starting point and expand the partnership to Viettel’s 10 overseas markets across Asia, Africa and the Americas in the future.
