True Discusses Joint Anti-Fraud War Room with Thai Police

On 16 January 2025, senior executives of True Corporation held talks with leaders of Thailand’s Royal Thai Police. The two sides plan to set up a joint anti-fraud “War Room” within the police agency to enable government-enterprise data collaboration, focusing on call centre scams, SIM‑Box devices, anomalous calls and fraudulent SMS, to curb telecom crimes and reduce public financial losses.

True Corporation CEO Manat Manavutivuthi led the corporate executive team for discussions with Thailand’s National Police Chief and Inspector General of Police. The joint war room will integrate data resources from both police and the telecom operator to conduct joint intelligence analysis, locate, track and dismantle telecom fraud criminal networks. True stated telecom fraud poses severe social harm; the company will leverage AI to monitor abnormal communications and support police for more precise and efficient crackdowns.

Since 2024, True has rolled out multiple anti-fraud measures: tightening SIM card real-name registration, deploying AI to detect and filter suspicious communications, terminating partnerships with risky vendors, blocking high-risk SIM cards and forming a dedicated anti-fraud taskforce. It also launched True CyberSafe protection system for True-DTAC subscribers, which alerts users to suspicious links without requiring extra app installation.

Thai police are also advancing digital anti-fraud work with the Cyber Check application, allowing citizens to verify suspicious phone numbers and bank accounts. This public-private partnership aligns with Thai government policies against tech-enabled crimes and strengthens joint prevention of scam calls and fraudulent SMS. It complements the DE-FENCE anti-fraud platform and NBTC’s eight new anti-fraud rules to improve Thailand’s telecom anti-scam governance framework.
