On May 28, 2026, KDDI launched a ServiceNow integration service for its corporate messaging platform "KDDI Message Cast", enabling enterprises to send SMS directly from the ServiceNow platform for critical notifications, system outage alerts, and emergency communications. The platform supports bulk sending of both SMS and RCS, and offers capabilities including API connectivity, web-based sending, result management, and mis-send prevention, catering to enterprise use cases such as authentication, notifications, debt collection, marketing, and customer service.
KDDI Message Cast allows enterprises to send messages using customers’ mobile phone numbers without requiring recipients to pre-install a dedicated application. Enterprises can either integrate SMS capabilities into their existing business systems via API, or use the web-based management portal to compose messages, import phone numbers, set sending conditions, and view delivery records. The platform supports two-way SMS, long SMS of up to 660 characters, short links, IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system integration, sender ID specification, and carrier-shared numbers.
In terms of security, the platform provides phone number ownership verification and mis-send prevention features, reducing the risk of sending personal or business information to the wrong user after a mobile number has been reassigned. KDDI stated that the service connects via Japan’s domestic network and is backed by 24/7 year-round monitoring and operation support. There are no initial setup fees, monthly fees, or minimum spending requirements; enterprises pay based on actual sending volume, and undelivered messages are generally not charged.
The platform also supports RCS business messaging, which can display verified enterprise names and send long text, images, videos, and interactive buttons. If a recipient is unable to use RCS, the system can automatically fall back to SMS for delivery. However, according to official website data, as of March 2026, RCS sending coverage is limited to au users only. For A2P SMS buyers, this service can serve as a local Japanese channel for enterprise notification and authentication SMS, but it is still necessary to verify carrier coverage, sender IDs, content moderation, and opt-out rules before integration.
