Jazz provides paid call and SMS blocking services for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers, and has also announced channels for opting out of marketing communications and reporting spam SMS. Users can manage blocklists and allowlists via 420# to proactively restrict contact from specific numbers, join the "Do Not Call Register" via 3627, or report inappropriate SMS to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) via 9000. These three mechanisms serve the functions of number blocking, marketing opt-out, and spam governance respectively.
Jazz's call and SMS blocking service applies to both on-net and off-net numbers. Subscribers can dial 420# to activate, manage, or cancel the service, which costs 2 Pakistani rupees per day, tax inclusive. Each subscriber can set a maximum of 50 blocklist numbers and 50 allowlist numbers; if the same number appears on both lists, it will occupy the corresponding quota for each list separately.
Through the 420# menu, users can add, check, or delete numbers, view blocked call records, modify the blocking prompt tone, or cancel the service. They can also send "Help" to 420 to receive SMS operation instructions. After unsubscribing, the existing blocklist and allowlist will be deleted, and users will resume receiving calls and SMS from all numbers. If the account balance is insufficient, the service may not be terminated immediately. Jazz may deduct the outstanding fees after the user recharges the account. The operator also reserves the right to adjust prices, service terms, or terminate the package in accordance with PTA regulations.
In terms of anti-spam communications, users can send "ON" or "SUB" to 3627 to join the Do Not Call Register free of charge and reject unsolicited marketing communications. For unwanted or inappropriate SMS, users can send the message to 9000 in the format of "sender number + space + SMS content" to submit a report to the PTA. Enterprise SMS senders should distinguish between transactional notifications and marketing messages, regularly scrub opt-out numbers, and retain records of user consent and unsubscription, so as to reduce the risk of their sending numbers being complained about, investigated, or blocked.
